Here at Cursor, we love to code and believe that teaching programming skills to the next generation is vital to remain competitive as a country.
The 'hour of code' project launches this week as a part of Computer Science Education Week in the US that aims to get more people learning code and computer science. Code.org is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to help anyone to learn programming that has already won support from Microsoft, Google and Mark Zuckerberg. In its first major campaign, Code.org is encouraging computer science education in the classroom as well as through a series of free online tutorials.
"Don't just download the latest App, help design it. Don't just play on your phone, learn to program it"
President Obama
There are tutorials that teach programming fundamentals, how to write your first computer program and even how to start building your own apps. So there really is plenty to get your teeth into regardless of your prior experience of computers.

Closer to home, the Lincoln School of Computer Science continues to do a great job in teaching programming skills. With over 500 students studying everything from robotics to games computing, the school is a vital part of Lincoln's digital economy. With many graduates finding work in local companies (we have two graduates from the school working at Artsgraphica), we hope that investment in computer science will continue.
So if you want to learn to programme or find out more about computer science then why not get started with the hour of code.
